Ugur Unal has received his B.Sc. degree from Chemical Engineering Department, Ege University in 1996, M.Sc. degree from Materials Science and Engineering Department, Izmir Institute of Technology in 1999 and Ph.D. from Applied Chemistry and Biochemistry Department, Kumamoto University, Japan in 2004. He worked as postdoctoral associate at the same department between 2004 and 2007. He received Japanese Government (Monbusho) Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology scholarship and Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) postdoctoral fellowship awards. He is an author of over 50 research articles in high impact Journals. His current research interests are synthesis and applications of 2D materials, heterogeneous photocatalysts, energy conversion and storage, electrochemical synthesis, sensors and optical materials.
